Debt recovery and instalment arrangements

A client came to me with a debt recovery problem. The amount owing was nominal thus I thought the best way of pursuing this was firstly by way of letter of demand. The letter of demand provoked no response from the debtor thus I issued a statement of claim in the Local Court of NSW. On having the debtor served with the statement of claim, I was contacted by the debtor whereby we negotiated a settlement and that the debtor was to pay this off in monthly instalments until the debt had cleared. The client was very happy with this outcome as they believed they wouldn't be able to recover it.
