Arul has a master degree from the University of Sydney and is an accomplished practitioner with over 15 years experience in complex commercial and general litigation in both the private and government sectors. He has had the conduct of matters in the High Court, Federal Court, Supreme Court, Local Court and the Industrial Relations Commission.
In the areas of commercial and general litigation Arul has dealt with contract disputes, company and partnership disputes, insolvency and debt recovery. When involved in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements he has dealt with franchise agreements, distribution agreements, shareholder agreements, joint venture agreements, investment agreements, leases, the sale and purchase of businesses and the protection of intellectual property.
He has extensive experience of the Trade Practices Act and has had the conduct of matters under Parts 4 and 5 of the TPA initiated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), in particular:
In addition Arul possesses considerable experience of inheritance disputes or contested wills. He has acted at various times for executors of estates and persons who have been seeking an entitlement where they were either left out of a will or believe they have been short-changed through minor legacy. He has been involved in a number of successful negotiations without the need to proceed to court and where he has been rebuffed proceedings have been commenced and success achieved.
Over many years, due to client demands, Arul has also been involved in insolvency and debt recovery; contract disputes; building disputes; property matters and summary offences and family law. He is an extremely competent legal professional who can capably acquit himself in most areas of practice. Whilst Arul has been engaged in legal practice he has also taken a keen interest in legal education matters. He has conducted a range of seminars on topics including Directors' Liabilities under the Corporations Act and the Trade Practices Act, Insolvency, Employment Law and Occupational Health and Safety.
