Jeff is a trial lawyer and is located in our Carlton office. Jeff will also travel to our Dandenong office to serve clients on request.
Jeff entered the legal profession in March 2000. Since then, he has practised in a wide range of areas of the law. However, Jeff's forte and passion is in criminal law. He appeared in many hearings in Magistrates' Courts and has appeared as a barrister on many occasions for clients in criminal jury trials ranging from aggravated burglaries to serious drugs and sexual offences.
Although Jeff has sincere respect for the Bench, he is not afraid to argue and fight for his clients. Jeff believes that every one of his clients must be properly represented and must receive 'a fair go'. To appreciate Jeff's keenness one has only to learn of one occasion when, during his closing address to the jury, Jeff performed an impersonation of Austin Powers in 'The Spy Who Shagged Me'. Jeff's client was successful in that case!
Victims of crimes are also important to Jeff's work. He once made an application and submissions on behalf of a victim that resulted in her receiving 94 per cent of the maximum allowable compensation amount. When dealing with family law matters, Jeff believes in the mediation process. Eighty per cent of Jeff's family law mediations are settled on or before the scheduled date of the mediation.
Because of the fact that Jeff practised law in the country areas, he also provides advice on Wills and Probate, General Litigation, Workers' Compensation, Personal Injuries, Crimes Compensation, and Mediation in the Family Court.
Jeff was a refugee and was one of the 'Boat People'. He is fluent in Vietnamese and enjoys table tennis, hiking and camping.
